Parthian is Zahra’s dream project as it enabled her to dive deeply into her core areas of interest; Iran, education, displacement and as Mrs. Delshadian would put it love. It was the love that she was reminded of that fueled her to keep pushing forward to tell this story; to cherish childhood, embrace loss and become empowered by it.
Dowlatabadi received her master’s degree at USC in film studies. She has worked in the capacity of an animation producer in many studios including Warner Bros., Disney and Bento Box Entertainment. In 2012, she functioned as the showrunner for the 39th Annie Awards for ASIFA-Hollywood.
Dowlatabadi’s most recent live action credit is as an executive producer on the documentary entitled “Lady of Roses” written, produced and directed by Mojtaba Mirtahmasb. She co-wrote Producing Animation, published by Focal Press in 2001. Translated in Chinese and Korean, the 2nd edition of Producing Animation was released in Sept. 2011.
In 1996, Dowlatabadi was associate producer on Warner Bros. Feature Animation Studio’s “Quest for Camelot.” Additionally she produced a PSA for Unicef on the topic of Children’s Rights.
